Want un-crowded waves?

We’ve got the solution. 2 private islands, with a maximum of 25 people there at once, 10 different breaks, (sandbar, points, lefts, rights, beach break, and reef), with slow, fun waves for beginners all the way to peeling, deep barrels, a lodge, and your own cabanas over looking the Pacific Ocean.
Sore from surfing? That’s alright, because we’ll have our own private yoga instructor holding classes each day to help keep us limber and tension free. You’ll also have the option of getting massage or acupuncture treatments.
If you need a day off from surfing, there’s world class fishing to be done, horseback riding, waterfall hikes, and snorkeling.
The Fall (Oct and Nov) are still apart of the “rainy season” in Central America, which means that there is a possibility of rain each day. Many days it will be clear in the AM, and in the middle of the day it will rain for a few hours, with it being clear and calm again in the afternoon. It is also possible for it to rain all day, but it will be in the 80’ temp range, so it won’t be cold!
If you only want only sunny days and beach time, this may not be your best trip, but if you are hunting for waves and a tranquil place to practice yoga, than come check out the hidden gem of Central America.

Activity Description

Surfing info: There are 2 islands for us to surf from. Our lodge is located on the large island, there’s a large sandy beach break in a bay area, as well as a break right out front. There are also several left point breaks on this island.
The smaller island is about a 30-minute boat ride. This is the island of the largest waves. When the waves are flat everywhere else, you’ll find head high waves here on average. On the north side of the island there are lefthanders going off and on the south side of the island there are right breaking waves. (Something for everyone) There will be two major boat trips per day to the various surf breaks. The 1st trip will be early in the morning, and the second later in morning or in the early afternoon.
There are a quiver of boards at the camp for our use if you don’t want to bring your own board. If you do decide to bring your own board, you will be responsible for airline fees.

Flights: You will be responsible for booking a flight from the US to Panama City, (Airport code:PTY) Guests must arrive on Friday, Nov 3rd no later than 1:30pm.
Our return to Panama City on Nov 11th will have us arriving at the Panama International airport at approx 7:45pm

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQS

What are the accommodations like?

Oceanfront cabana rooms with a great view and a cool breeze. There is running water for drinking and showering. We have a dining room area for eating and visiting in the evening. We have electricity in the evening hours when we start our generator. The emphasis is on the surfing, not 4 star lodging, but if you like rustic island style, you’ll like it.

Do I need any special immunization?

Tetanus would be good if you haven’t had one in the last ten years. No problems with Malaria, Yellow Fever or Hepatitis.

How safe is it in Panama?

Recently, a government study on crime in Latin America found Panama with a lower crime rate than Costa Rica, which is typically thought as one of the safest Latin American countries to travel to. Panama is rated at the same level as the United States.

Do I need a passport?

Yes For a U.S. passport application, go to: http://travel.state.gov/passport_services.html

How far are we from Panama city?

The island is located 250 miles from Panama City going in the direction of Costa Rica. We are on an island in the Gulf of Chiriqui.

Can you accomidate vegetarian diets?

Yes. Panama has a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. Please inform us prior to arrival of any special diets.

How consistant are the waves?

As consistent as any other surf destination in the world. There are waves most all the time, but we can’t guarantee waves 100% of the time.

What is the bathroom like?

There is a flush toilet, sink and shower.

What is the preparation for medical emergencies?
There is a fairly extensively medical supply cabinet, so we can handle most minor injuries like cuts and bruises. The camp workers have some first aid, CPR training, but aren’t doctors. The camp is in phone and radio contact with a local naval base. We are approximately 1 hour to a small country hospital and 1.5 hours from a major city hospital.
